Home Made Pizza in Webber BBQ

In the beginning home-made pizza’s were made in the Convection Oven using wraps. But Graeme has since progressed and now makes the pizza base from scratch and cooks it when we are travelling in the Weber baby Q. When we are at home we use a little Pizza Oven which I bought for Graeme for Christmas.

Generally the toppings are whatever we feel like at the time. Sometimes even left over food. But more than usual Graeme makes up a delicious curry chicken mixture, sometimes even prawns.

Ingredients for Pizza Base

1 1/2 cups Semolina (Durum Wheat Flour)

1 1/2 cups of plain or wholemeal flour

1 tsp salt

1tbsp olive oil

1 x 7g sachet of dried yeast (Tandaco)

1.5 cups luke warm water

1 tsp sugar

Combine water, yeast and sugar in a bowl and let stand while you prepare the flour. Then combine the flours and salt ad the yeast mixture and ad a tablespoon of olive oil. Graeme loves adding some dried Indian style herbs and spices to the mixture and occasionally some dried chili flakes. So use your imagine to tantalise your taste buds. Knead it altogether for about 10 minutes. Cover with a clean tea towel and let it stand so it doubles in size. Then knead again and let it stand again. Let it have another rest 🙂 and subject to how thick you want your pizza base break, but Graeme breaks it down to 4 pieces as we generally have a thin crispy base. But you can make it however you like. One piece is rolled out for a good sized pizza base.

The photo above was when we were in Darwin in October, 2019. I had broken my arm so we spent quite a bit of time here. Anyway this was the first Sunday after my surgery etc., that we had to enjoy a home made pizza and bubbles using the Webber baby Q.

NOTE: This mixture can freeze really well and we take it out of the freezer the day before we want to use it.

As for the topping, well you can see on the photos what Graeme prepares and to cook in the Webber Baby Q is a trial and error situation which you will need to perfect yourselves as we have done. Enjoy……….
