Having an annual WA National Parks pass is a great benefit as there are so many wonderful National Parks to visit throughout WA. Cape Range National Park is within the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area close to Exmouth and there are some great camping areas situated near popular beach areas.
Mesa campground is located towards the northern end of the park and overlooks a small north facing bay. There are 23 hard surface campsites and new ablutions. It’s clean, level and just a short walk to the beach. Bookings can only be made online. The fee per night for one person is $11 or $7 for concession card holders and $3 for children. On top of your overnight camping fee you also need to pay your entry into the park.
Beside caravans and camper trailers the sites easily accommodate large motor homes and 5th wheelers. There is no water or power or television reception, Telstra signal was okay for us while we were there. The beaches are great for snorkelling, beach fishing or just relaxing.
What a great place to camp and then go and check out the rest of the park. So many places to visit. Not far from the camp is Mylering Discovery Centre which is well worth a visit and lots of great bays such as Turquoise Bay. The Centre also has a free on-line service available that is logged into the Park’s web page to facilitate easy camp site booking.
