Queensland Trip – 2017 and 2018

Here are a list of the towns and places we stayed during our first trip through Queensland in 2017 and then our second trip in 2018.

Queensland Trip 2017

The map below shows our travels as we left our home in Coffs Harbour, NSW. Our first stop was at the Yelgun Rest Area which is no longer open for overnight stays. Please note the prices given were at the time of our stay and they may have changed since then.

Yelgun Rest Area – This is no longer an overnight camping area.

Noosa Big 4 – At the time of our visit in 2017 the price for 2A with power and water was $28 per night with Big 4 membership discount.

Calliope – This has to be one of our favourite free camps. We have now stayed here a couple of times.

Flaggy Rock – $15 per vehicle per night. Awesome camp ground. No entry after 6pm.

Bowen – $35 2A – with power and water. Back when we stayed we had a special Big 4 deal that was going at the time.

Bluewater Park – Free camp but you need to get in early.

Paronella Park – $40 2A – Power and water. This also included a tour of the castle etc.

Cairns –  We stayed at the Big 4 Coconut Cairns Resort, please check the website fro current fees. We thought it was awesome and from here we did many day trips to different areas like the Daintree and Port Douglas.

Pinnarendi Station – 2A unpowered $18 – power and water $27. Such a great place to stop for a couple of nights and enjoy the wonderful cafe and wood fired-pizzas.

Croydon – At the time we stayed it was $30 per night for 2A with power and water all year.

Below is the route we took from Croydon back down to Coffs.

Normanton – $34 2A – power and water

Karumba – We were lucky to score a few nights here. It’s packed to the rafters around July. At the time we paid $43 per night for 2A with power and water.

Cloncurry – This park was OK for an overnighter and when we stopped back in 2017 it was $35 per night for 2A with water and power.

Winton – Another town at the time of the year we stopped – July 2017 – when it’s very busy. $30 per night with power and water 2A.
